1. How long are music lessons?
Most beginners start with 30-minute lessons once a week. As students progress or prepare for more advanced lessons, 60 minute lessons may be recommended.
2. Should I rent or buy my instrument?
It depends on the student’s age and experience level. For children, renting is often the best option since they may outgrow their instrument. For adult students, purchasing your instrument can be a worthwhile investment, especially if they plan to continue long-term.
3. Do I need to learn how to read music first?
No, reading music and learning how to play an instrument are not mutually exclusive. You will learn how to read music alongside learning to play, so the two skills develop together.
4. How long does it take to learn how to play an instrument?
While every student progresses at their own pace, most begin to notice meaningful improvement after about 3 months of consistent practice and instruction. Developing a strong foundation takes time, but with regular effect, students can expect steady growth.
5. How often should I practice my instrument?
Practicing 15-30 minutes a day is a great starting point. Consistency is key, so try to aim to practice every day with no more than one day off per week (in addition to your lesson day) to help build steady progress. Shorter, focused lessons are more effective than occasional longer ones.
6. Is it too late to start learning how to play an instrument as an adult?
Not at all! Many adult students find music lessons to be rewarding, whether you’re starting a new instrument or returning after years away. We’re happy to work with your schedule and goals!
